Oakland Aesthetic Dermatology provides comprehensive skin care for patients of all ages. We have the resources to treat all aspects of skin disease including acne, dermatitis, skin cancer, and pediatric problems.

I obtained my cosmetology license in 1985. Inspired to start a career in esthetics, I connected with a European esthetician who graciously took me under her wing and began teaching me the workld of esthetics. Thus launched my first job at a salon, where I offered European facials and make-up consults and application.
I worked in California at the exclusive Golden Door Spa as a beauty therapist. Before long I was appointed Golden Door Educator for treatment protocol.
I attended the International Dermal Institute where I received advanced training in esthetics including acne causes, treatments, aromatherapy and reflexology.
Friends and family persuaded me to move back home to Michigan where I advanced my career in clinical esthetics.
I currently work in the office of Dr. Barry Auster and his staff here at Oakland Aesthetic Dermatology. My passion for my work continues in this ever-changing field.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, exfoliating treatment helpful for those unhappy with acne scarring, sun damaged skin, freckles, age spots, stretch marks, scars, fine lines and rough skin. Treatment can be performed on the face, neck, chest, back elbows, hands and feet. Microdermabrasion is a safe, therapeutic approach to skin care when used alone, or in combination with other treatments.
What is Treatment like?
Microdermabrasion is performed with a stream of fine crystals, which are delivered across the skin’s surface and then removed via vacuum, uprooting the damaged cells to reveal fresh, invigorated skin.
What is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid Peel?
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA’s) are a group of naturally occurring acids which are derived from a certain plant of fruit, including sugar cane, apples, grapes and citrus. AHA’s are used to improve the skin of acne, blotchy pigmentation, fine wrinkles, weathered sun damaged skin and dry skin. This process allows the lead cells to slough off, leaving behind a layer of smoother, softer skin. In addition AHA’s help dissolve the material that clog pores, thus allowing the pores to drain better, decreasing the tendency for acne lesions to form. No down time is needed, light peeling will occur and multiple peels are required for best results.

During a facial, you will receive a thorough skin analysis where you and I will discuss your skin type, medical conditions that may affect your skin and the treatments that will best benefit your skin. Your skin will be cleansed, exfoliated with steam, extractions will be performed and a masque and moisturizer will be applied. I will also educate you on how to take care of your skin at home. For greatest results, I recommend monthly facials combined with a daily home care routine. Facials are also a time to be relaxed, pampered, restored and rejuvenated! An indulgent therapeutic massage will also be part of your facial experience.
Acne Facial $55.00
Purifying treatment designed for sensitive/acne skin. Included is a gentle exfoliating peel, steam and extractions. Also known as a “Teen Facial.” Not only does this facial assist in acne reduction; it will also educate our clientele on how to improve their daily skin care regimen.
Back Treatment $95.00
Deep cleansing treatment for the back with steam and extractions, enzyme peel, light massage calming your daily nerves of the upper shoulders and lower back areas. Finalizing with a refreshing mask.
